Dear Lesley,
Thank you for your letter dated 27th Feb 2018. I have grave concerns over your refusal to comment on the departure of Professor Stephen Harris from Bristol University considering a letter addressed to you may well have played an integral part in his departure.
The fact remains he was chosen by the publicly funded Welsh Government, to be lead author in a publicly funded review that was made publicly available and used as a reference for the public to participate in a public consultation. And you claim the overwhelming majority of the public (around 1,000) answering the questions to the public consultation support a ban and this would have been off the back of the Harris review.
The final review was handed to the Welsh Government around Dec 2016 and by late December you personally had received a letter severely criticising the reviews findings by the world renowned animal behaviourist Prof Ted Friend and the same letter was sent onto Bristol University.

By the end of February 2017 Professor Stephen Harris was unemployed under the cloak of “retirement”, he was moved on from Bristol University with such haste even his pupils wondered what happened to him and even held a petition for his return.

Quite clearly Bristol University were happy to see the back of Professor Harris as the petition failed to obtain its objective. Since then Professor Harris has written two lengthy reports in a similar vain to your own circus review and can be found hanging around courtrooms selling himself as an impartial independent witness in hunting cases, so much for retirement.
Off course the public have absolutely every single right to know what happened to Professor Harris and I feel you have a duty to inform us. I look forward to you making the information publicly available.

I got the full dirt on Harris in 1997/98. He was being generously funded by the League Against Cruel Sports and the money was being ‘laundered’ via another wildlife group. I left all the proof with the Countryside Alliance – it seems they ‘lost’ it – and never made it available for court cases where it would have totally disproved Harris’s standing as an ‘independent’ expert witness.
